"Dunno
is music. Music by means of songs. Songs by means of melodies. That simple.
That direct."
Dunno is
one of the most promising bands in Spain. With a British-influenced sound
and image, catchy songs and original straightforward lyrics, they combine
pop melodies and energic rock guitars with the rawness and conciseness
of the 70s punk. All this wrapped up in a wide range of rhythms to non-stop
dancing.
Their energic
live show has earned them very positive reviews, success in contests (winners
of the St.Adrian Pop Rock Festival, second in the prestigious Proyecto
Demo 08, finalists in Lemon Pop 07) and has taken them to the most important
venues in cities like Barcelona (Razzmatazz, Bikini, Salamandra, Sidecar,
Apolo) and Madrid (Joy-Eslava, Moby Dick, Copérnico) and they have
even toured London twice in two years.
After the success of their first selfproduced album (Fiction Or Reality,
2006), Dunno are now working on their second album, which will be released
on 2009.
What the music media said about Dunno:
"Catchy
songs, in the best meaning of the word, brief but intense."
Diario de Noticias de Navarra, 6 January 2007
"Surprising
show for the energy of the band on stage and the perfect combination of
pop melodies with a rock background, sometimes close to the rawest post-punk.
Restrained insolence for a show in which you cannot stop dancing, with
the band playing with brit sounds but without the monotony of repetition."
GoMag, May 2008
"Many
try to make good music but just a few succeed, and Dunno are one of these
few. [...] With an excellent first album and a captivating live show,
Dunno have found their space in the Spanish indie scene."
Vanidad, May 2008
"They bring you to those after punk and power pop years (1977 and
1978) where bands mixed energic and syncopated sounds with youthful lyrics
with no philosophical pretences. Think about XTC or The Jam, among others."
Mondo Sonoro, January 2007
"They
are what you expect from a band, they write good melodies, funny and interesting
lyrics and they are more and more professional."
Beatburger.com, 16 May 2007
"An
amazing band [...], the Catalans Dunno made us move our hips with their
rhythms."
Rock Is Roll Magazine, Febrero 2008
"The
band's British-influenced pop-rock made the audience dance with its quick
melodies and their direct lyrics."
MTV Spain, March 2008
"A nice
surprise. [...] Everyone was unconciously moving their heads to the rhythm
of their accelerated pop-punk."
GoMag, April 2008
"After listening to the first album by these four Barcelona-based
musicians, a quick idea crosses your mind: we have found the Spanish Franz
Ferdinand".
Mondo Sonoro, January 2007
"New
Microphone has already become one of the most sung along tunes at
the small venues in Spain".
Diario ADN, 4 May 2007
"Dunno
somehow break the unwritten rule, since their addiction to brit-pop does
not prevent them from having an energic and original sound. In some moments
they are closer to the first Gang Of Four or XTC than Blur or Supergrass."
Ruta 66, September 2007
"Infectious
hooks and blunt lyrics".
Ins&Outs Magazine, New York, May 2007
"A journey
back to the rhythms and sounds of the past providing them with a fresh
and entertaining touch."
Mondo Sonoro, February 2007
"The
most promising band from Barcelona. They have the insolence that other
many other bands lack nowadays."
Buscando a la morsa (Radio Utopía), January 2008
"Perfect
mix of pop melodies and rock guitars by an experienced band."
Lemon Pop, October 2007
"Dunno
are able to bring back the new wave and post-punk sounds without falling
in the trap of the most commercial brit pop."
Magic Pop, November 2007
"Bright
and cocky rock, with both danceable and listenable moments."
Solo-Rock, March 2008
"As
to being good musicians, nobody can beat them."
Indienauta, March2008
"A perfect performance proved that, in spite of their youth, they
have enough experience and a selfrecorded LP."
Muzikalia, March 2008
